Tom Cruise Wants JJ Abrams Back for MI4 Options

Bad idea! Apparently rumors are being spread that Tom Cruise wants JJ Abrams back for Mission Impossible 4. Really? Cruise wants one of the most raved about and top grossing directors of the year to put him in him a film, who would have thought?

A while ago we heard Tom Cruise on a Japanese television talking about MI4 and saying that he was “working on the story right now” and has been “thinking about how to stage a big action sequence in downtown Tokyo.”

Now TV Guide tells us that Abrams said:


I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on ‘Mission Impossible 4′…Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing.
To me this sounds like a very political “thanks, but I’m going to go make Star Trek 2 now.” But! You never know! It would be some easy cash! The rumors so not confirm there is a screenwriter involved, but Cruises’s claims that there is a 4th film in the works might have just been confirmed.

For me this has been a series that started great and has slipped ever since. I think they should just quit while they’re ahead.
